Gallery highlights for Fall 2026
Looking at other artists" paintings when I am not out under the wondrous sky by the seashore or in the forest sketching.
As a curatorial member of the Beaverbrook gallery in Fredericton it is inspiring to see its special collection of artworks. Approximately 7,000 items have been acquired since 1959, mostly from European, Canadian and Indigenous artists and donors.
One of the highlights this year has been the curated exhibition
"A Family Journey: The Private Collections of the Sobey Family". On view until the end of September were masterpieces by artists Maurice Cullen, Suzor-Côté, Morrice and Kent Monkman to name a few.
Looking forward to these upcoming exhibitons!
"Bearing witness to war": Alex Colville, Allan Harding Mackay and Nancy Stevens. opens on October 17th.
and the Governor General"s Awards in Visual and Media Arts on November 7th.

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity of visiting the Iceberg Contemporary Art in Moncton and meeting the owners. Contemporary https://icebergcontemporary.art. Also being art collectors they truly have a "painterly" eye when curating exhibitions. The gallery was recently featured in Edit the art magazine https://maritimeedit.com/. The Editor-in-Chief is James Mullinger.
Last week I crossed paths with the artist Craig Gower, we were both looking for lightbulbs in a hardware store. Our paintings are different yes - but our approach similar in that we choose not to make A.I. paintings. For us it's about paint, canvas, brushes and poetry. Owner of the Mitote Gallery in Saint John,
he will be hosting during the gallery hop event scheduled October 23rd.
